Globally, AstraZeneca operates 26 manufacturing sites in 18 countries.

AstraZeneca exports pharmaceutical products from its Sydney plant to more than 37 countries around the world, from Europe to Asia, New Zealand to Japan, with over $220 million in exports in 2008.

The range of processing at the Sydney plant includes liquid formulation, aseptic and non aseptic filling, and finishing / packaging sterile and non-sterile liquids into Respules and Polyamps, utilising Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) technology, Polybags, Dental Cartridges and Vials.

The Manufacturing division operates to high standards of production, complying with all Australian and world standards for Good Manufacturing Practice.

The Division is also highly committed to the environment, running a number of programs to save water and energy, increase the amount of recycling and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
